Nowadays, getting a picture of yourself is simple. All you have to do is to take a selfie. However, how you prepare yourself for a selfie and a professional photoshoot is very different. Most people get nervous and think that all the photos will come out terribly, but that isn’t true.
There’s beauty in everyone, and it is the photographer’s job to bring it out. Yet, it makes it easier when you know what to expect. Therefore, let’s see what happens during a headshot photoshoot.
Communication
First, the photographer will talk to you so they can know more about you and your interests. That may seem like small talk, but believe me, it isn’t. The photographer needs to understand you so they can know what you like and what you are looking for with this session. Therefore, be honest; you don’t need to be nervous, though. The photographer will be nice and friendly, and they are truly interested in you.
Adjustment
Once you and the photographer get on the same page, the adjustment of the set will begin. They’ll ask you to get in your preferred clothes (if you aren’t dressed up for the photoshoot already), and to put on the makeup and hairstyle you want (again, if you aren’t ready).
Overall, headshots require a more natural makeup and hair set since it values your face as it truly is. However, that changes the needs of the client. Some clients do headshots for professional reasons, and that requires a different set of makeup. Again, that’s why it is necessary, to be honest about your reasons. The photographer needs to understand why you are taking the pictures.
Photos time
After the set is adjusted, the lights are fixed, and everything is ready, the photoshoot starts. The photographer will teach you some positions and will start taking your pictures. This may feel like the tensest moment for people, especially if they are shy, but be relaxed. The photographer’s job is to make you feel comfortable, and they take it very seriously. You often find them making jokes, asking you about your life, etc. They’ll make what they can to make you feel good and relaxed, so don’t worry. You are not bothering them.
Some people need to change clothes and makeup for a new set of photos. If that’s the case, the steps will be the same as earlier.
Reviewing
Once the pictures are taken, you and the photographer will review them immediately so you can pick which ones you want and which will be deleted. Then, your job is over, and you can go home.
Edition
The photographer will edit the selected pictures so they can look great. The edition is necessary to fix some minor errors, such as light, position, etc. Plus, it makes the picture look more professional. Finally, they will send you the pictures, and that’s it. Pretty easy, right?
You can do headshot photography inside of other types of photography, such as boudoir shoots. If you are interested in boudoir photography in Vancouver, check Mateus Studios out and book your session.
